Kids frequently think they are experts in everything, despite your best efforts and several attempts to disprove them.
Having to deal with this aspect on a constant basis may be very frustrating for parents, but one mother’s letter to her 13-year-old son, in which she tackles the reality that he thought it was acceptable to create his own rules, has gained a lot of popularity.
The mother, who goes by Estella Havisham on Facebook, claimed that her adolescent deserved to receive a lesson. Online, her instruction immediately became popular.
When Estella Havisham decided to try to teach her little son a lesson about acting his age (figuratively), she only intended for her Facebook post to be viewed by her friends and family.
She didn’t know that her account had a “public” viewing option, therefore her letter quickly gained popularity. The good feedback it had received from people all over the world had caused it to become well known and go viral before she even realized it.
In the letter, her son Aaron received criticism for attempting to act like an adult too soon. Estella advised her 13-year-old son that if he continued to try to set his own rules, she would start to
The letter reads: “I guess you will need a lesson in independence. Also, as you threw in my face that you are making money now, it will be easier to buy back all the items IO bought for you in the past. If you would like your lamp/ light bulbs or access to the internet, you will need to pay your share of the costs.”
“Also you will need to empty the trash Mon, Wed & Friday as well as sweep and vacuum those days. You will need to keep your bathroom clean weekly, prepare your own meals and clean up after yourself. If you fail to do so I will charge you a $30 maid fee for every day I have to do it. If you decide you would rather be MY CHILD again instead of a roommate, we can negotiate terms.”
While some internet users thought she was overly rigid, many praised her for the manner she reared her kids.Soon, Estella’s letter had been shared on Facebook 160,000 times and received 85,000 likes. She received criticism for “shaming” him online, and in response, she said:
Why publicly humiliate him? I’m not. A mishap happened. Yesterday I was confused as to why I had received over 100 friend requests when I just wanted to post to my close relatives and friends. I genuinely thought that my account had somehow been compromised. Yes, I could take it down now, but it has already been read and viewed by so many people.
Her tough stance was immediately welcomed by many social media users. Additionally, it appears to have been successful. According to reports, the mother and son have a contract in place to maintain Aaron’s authority, and he has become aware of her new rules. The fact that Heidi and Aaron have now created a contract with rules that Aaron seems to follow suggests that the letter was effective, though.
“I’m not a bully dictator trying to ‘control’ my child. I am a parent who has every RIGHT to have rules, expectations, and consequences for my child.”
Do you believe that your mum went too far? Or was it acceptable for her to impose restrictions, demands, and penalties on her own child using her parental authority?
