In the 2024 season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), the Slovenian duo Forest of Haunts delivered a spine-chilling performance that left both judges and the audience on edge.
Known for their horror-themed magic acts, Forest of Haunts began their audition with a startling entrance, immediately setting a tense atmosphere. They invited judges Simon Cowell and Sofia Vergara on stage to participate in a suspenseful balloon-popping routine. Simon was tasked with selecting balloons to be popped over Sofia’s head, three of which contained harmless golden confetti, while one was filled with live maggots. Fortunately, Simon’s choices spared Sofia from the unpleasant surprise, but the final reveal of the maggot-filled balloon elicited strong reactions from both the judges and the audience.
The performance garnered mixed reviews: Heidi Klum buzzed the act, expressing her disapproval, while Simon Cowell described it as “repulsive but brilliant.” Despite the divided opinions, Forest of Haunts secured three “yes” votes from Simon, Sofia, and Howie Mandel, allowing them to advance to the next round.
Prior to AGT, Forest of Haunts, also known as Gozd Strahov, participated in Slovenia’s Got Talent in 2023, where they reached the semifinals.
Their AGT audition not only showcased their unique blend of horror and magic but also highlighted their ability to evoke strong emotional responses, making them a memorable act of the season.
