I spotted a white casket in the middle of the road while on patrol. I sought for assistance and carefully opened it to discover this inside.
I saw something odd while on my morning patrol on the highway. The road was vacant and straight for several kilometers when all of a sudden a white coffin appeared in the far-right lane, in the center of the asphalt.
I initially believed it to be a cruel joke. I had dozens of questions: what was inside, where did it come from, and who could have put it here?
It even initially appeared to be a big plastic container. But as I drew nearer, its features grew more distinct. It was a casket. Metal handles, white, lacquered.
I engaged the flashing lights, applied the brakes hard, and came to a stop a short distance away. My heart began to beat erratically.
— “This is twelve, Base. I’ve made an odd finding. In the center of the road is a coffin. A coffin, I say again. requesting a backup.
— “12, copy. Are you certain? Could it be that anything fell during a shipment? – The dispatcher seemed perplexed.
– “Looks far away. not appropriate. Nothing is in the area, and there are no cars close by. Awaiting coworkers.
I exited the vehicle, walked over to the coffin, and took a close look at it. It appeared to have been dragged or slipped from a car because there were almost any traces surrounding it—just faint lines.
Five minutes or so later, I noticed the patrol’s flashing lights. Two officers exited the vehicle as it came to a stop a few meters away.
— “What on earth are we dealing with here?” Squinting one of them, he examined the discovery.
I answered, “It was standing directly on the road, as if someone had placed it there on purpose.”
The other cop circled the casket and rapped his knuckles on the lid.
— “Heavy… However, I get a feeling that something is inside.
We looked at each other. Ordinarily, you would wait for the forensic team and record the discovery. But we were compelled to open it right away.
“Carefully,” my partner said.
I put my hand on the lid as I came around the other side. The hinges squeaked and the mechanism was rigid. I slowly raised it. And I recoiled in fear when I saw what was inside.
There were no wreaths or fabrics inside. Just perfectly placed rows of black rubbish bags. White powder poured from one that had been torn.
— “No way.” My partner let out a sigh. – “What a discovery.”
I pulled out the camera to record the evidence and remarked, “Looks like we’ve uncovered someone’s big operation.”
We later discovered that, in order to evade detection, a criminal organization was carrying illegal substances in coffins while operating under the guise of a funeral parlor.
Their van was involved in an accident close by that day. While some of the luggage was swiftly evacuated, nobody had time to recover this casket after it crashed onto the road.
A significant investigation began as a result of this odd discovery.
