A typical evening that became remarkable
On a typical evening, our dog crept into the bedroom, laid his paws on my wife as she slept, and started barking. When we realized the cause of his actions, we were shocked! 
Everything appeared to be at ease. time our one-year-old daughter and six-year-old son had been sleeping in their rooms for a time, my wife and I were resting well beneath our cover. Nothing hinted at the least bit of difficulty.
Our Labrador Semi, who has been our faithful friend for eight years, unexpectedly barged into the bedroom at three in the morning. Semi was an essential member of our household; she was compassionate and intelligent. He had never had an issue and had always acted correctly. But there was a problem that evening.
He went straight to the bed, put his paws on my wife’s chest, and started barking softly. I became immediately aware of this strange conduct. He had always complied with our rule that he was not allowed to get on the bed.
However, he had a different, almost terrifying attitude this time. When I woke up and noticed him hovering over her in the faint light, my heart began to race.
I had a moment of panic: what was happening? Then, all of a sudden, I realized the reality, and I immediately called emergency services. Haha!
There was a faint squeak that could hardly be heard in the hallway. Then I realized that there was a far greater threat than Semi was the issue.
As if sensing danger, our Labrador had moved himself between the door and our bed.
I woke my wife without saying anything and motioned for her to keep quiet. I heard a faint sound as I tiptoed toward the door—someone was slinking across the floors.
I snatched up my phone and dialed the cops. Semi stood watch in front of the door, vigilant and prepared, and we took refuge in the toilet with the kids while we waited for them.
It’s been seven minutes. In times like these, an eternity. Then, from outside, a booming voice said:
— Police! Stay put!
We caught two burglars inside our house. Persuaded they could steal our possessions undetected, they had broken in through the living room window. However, they had overlooked one important factor: our dog.
Our real hero ended up being Semi. Who knows what may have occurred without him. We offered him a warm blanket and a huge bone as a token of our appreciation. He has been sleeping directly outside our bedroom door ever then. No more inquiries were made.
He is now and always will be our devoted protector.
